Polyhedral-shaped building designed by one of the most influential contemporary architects, Rem Koolhaas from the Netherlands, Casa da Música is nowadays the most iconic cultural building of the city of Porto and, why not say it, of Portugal as a country.
It belongs to a worldwide net of cultural and artistic venues and hosts an innovative and very broad and diverse project.
The project of Casa da Música assumes its role as the main dynamo for the musical genre and goes from big international productions to the most experimental music projects. The annual programme is structured around the season of the resident groups (Symphony Orchestra, Remix Ensemble, Baroque Orchestra and Choir), the Piano and Jazz Series, the Theme Blocks and Educational Activities, all under the orientation of a Theme Country, defined for each calendar year.
The multiplicity of rooms and spaces that the building has, combined with the singularity of most of them, is an asset for companies and external promoters looking for the ideal venue to host their events. Regardless of its nature, if corporate, scientific, artistic, commercial or other, the sound and light equipment always at your disposal is of the highest standards, a permanent team of technical assistance and a solid structure of support service will be with you at all time.
The Restaurant plays a major role in the galvanization of Casa da Música. Located on the top floor, with an unique design and a terrace that offers a privileged view over the city. Here one can find the various proposals by award-winning chef Artur Gomes, in a menu where Portuguese Gastronomy meets culinary traditions from around the World.
The guided visits are a great way to get to know Casa da Música in its various aspects. With approximately one hour duration a guide will describe the building, explain its architecture, its functions and the artistic programme. Amongst the guided visits there are the regular ones, that occur on a daily basis, and the ones designed specifically for groups, in need of previous booking.
