Coming to Porto and the North of Portugal in the summer? These are the events you cannot miss in 2015

If you are going to be at Porto and in the North of Portugal this summer, we are certain that you will not be lacking in activities to take part in. In addition to all the historic towns that you can visit, there is also a wide variety of events and exhibitions that you can attend and, in this way, getting to know a little better the culture of this region.

The biggest festival of Porto, São João, will be in the city streets until July 4th. See what you can expect from the Invicta city regarding the celebrations this year and learn a little more about the history of this Popular Saint.

The Summer brings, inevitably, the Summer festivals for all musical tastes with special emphasis to the Vodafone Paredes de Coura Festival (August 19th to 22nd) and the Milhões de Festa Festival (23rd to 26th July).

During the months of June, July and August you can also visit several exhibitions in the North of Portugal. The José de Guimarães International Center of Arts hosts various exhibitions such as "Rituals with Masks", "Too Little, Too Late" by Vasco Araújo and "Paintings: Monumental Suites and Some Variations" by José de Guimarães. Also in Guimarães, FNAC will host the latest exhibition from the photographer Marcia Nascimento "Viaggio in Lapponia".

In July, the "Curtas Vila do Conde" - International Film Festival returns to town (4th to 12nd July), and the storefronts of the shops will be decorated with elements related to the Festival, under the Curt'as Montras contest.

In Porto, the Portuguese Center of Photography will host the exhibition "Barros Basto: the Captain in the trenches". The Puppet Museum celebrates its second anniversary with the exhibition "Puppets and Landscapes", inspired by the work of João Paulo Seara Cardoso, featuring puppets and parts of stage sets used in several theatrical works. In Culturgest, 'Jef Cornelis - Works for Television (1963-1998)' brings together 60 films (subtitled in English), which can be seen individually, complemented by materials for the knowledge and study of the filmmaker's work. Finally, in Bragança, do not miss out on the exhibition of contemporary art "Rites and Myths" by Graça Morais.
