Between October 24-26, 2014, the town of Vinhais will be an ambassador for chestnuts. The town's numerous restaurants will offer a variety of dishes prepared with chestnuts. Wine, traditional 'Jeropiga' liquor, and lots of fun are the ingredients for this festival honouring the chestnut. This is one that you shouldn't miss!
The best chestnut-based sweet products received prizes, as do the leading chestnut producers.
Jams, liquors, honey, cheeses, oils, wines, bread, couscous, smoked meats and other regional products will be on display, and philharmonic bands, traditional groups of bagpipers, traditional ‘Careto’ groups and ‘Fado’ concerts will make Vinhais a fun place to be during these three days.
