Spend three days in Porto and the North of Portugal and take time to recharge batteries and be romantic. Surrender to the pampering of your soul mate and of the best SPAs, and why not try out thermal baths in historical places and idyllic settings?

Porto for lovers

In Porto, stay at The Yeatman Hotel, a luxurious 5 star hotel that offers a discrete and elegant comfort while welcoming you according to the best Portuguese traditions. Here you will find one of the seven Caudalie venues in the world and the first wine SPA in the country: the Vinothérapie SPA by Caudalie, overlooking Ribeira and downtown Porto.

A riverside town, Porto has a thousand and one nooks and crannies that will bring out your romantic side while discovering local culture and history. Stroll along the streets of the historic center and the downtown area and feel the pulse of one of the oldest cities in the country. It is mandatory to wander around the Ribeira pier, through the narrow streets of Porto's historic center and downtown.

The beautiful train station of S. Bento marks the transition from the old town to the downtown area, which has recently acquired a new and very interesting life, both day and night. Enter the Lello bookshop, one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world, enjoy the old grocery stores and the new gourmet shops, the concept stores, the friendly cafés and the signature restaurants. All this in an area that you can easily walk through and that has been developed around two streets: Cândido dos Reis and Galeria de Paris.

Toast in one of the wine bars in the historic center with a small glass of Port wine or a with cup of red or white mature wine, DOC Douro. Discover the Bolhão Market and the Majestic café, one of the most iconic places in Porto and one of the finest Art Nouveau buildings in the city - the building was built in 1916 and the café opened in 1921 - in the lively Santa Catarina street.

In the beach area, go to Serralves, next to Avenida da Boavista. The Contemporary Art Museum, which was designed by Siza Vieira, and the Art Deco House are remarkable venues indeed, but we suggest something else. Enjoy a picnic in the park, one of the largest green areas in Oporto, where the gardens of the Central Parterre stand out. Renew your loyalty vows next to the water fountains that Jacques Gréber designed for Casa de Serralves.

An invitation to tranquility

The following day, hit the road to Chaves. Stay at the Vidago Palace Hotel SPA, a unique and memorable place, and enjoy the hotel SPA.

Vidago's natural mineral water, which is bottled for consumption, is known for its healing properties and used in treatments and health programs in this SPA, designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and with treatments authored by Aromatherapy Associates & Clarins.

Visiting Chaves is also mandatory. During Roman occupation, the town was known as "Aquae Flaviae" - its water sprouts at about 73º C and is still the main attraction in this popular spa. Stroll inside the ramparts of the medieval town and enjoy the castle and its donjon.

Return to Vidago Palace and Cave dos Vinhos (Wine Cellar): the perfect place for a light evening meal. Set in an inconspicuous corner of the Vidago Palace cellars, this bar invites you to taste the best local products. Ask for a cup of wine from the nearby Douro Valley or for a glass of Port wine and toast this unforgettable journey, which is now approaching its end.
