Porto is a city full of history, museums, gardens and even beaches, thus becoming the perfect place for your family holiday. In three days, you will be able to discover the best that the city and its surroundings have to offer, from contemporary art to the basics of surfing.

To move between these places there's nothing better than the Porto Card: the best way to experience the best of Porto, with unlimited access to public transport and free admissions and discounts at more than 100 attractions, valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours from the date and time that will be included on the card. Come with us on this journey through the best that this city has to offer and start getting familiar with the advantages of your Porto Card.

Day 1 - Walking around Porto

If you didn't purchase your Porto Card online you can do so in one of one of our Tourist Offices throughout the city. When you have the Porto Card in hand, you're ready to start the tour of the city!

The Douro river will be a constant presence throughout these three days and can be seen under the city's bridges in Ribeira or near the cellars of Port wine, on the opposite bank of the river in Vila Nova de Gaia. You can also take a cruise, sailing along the Douro River and passing by the bridges. Enjoy 20% discount with Porto Card!

Explore the narrow streets of the historic center, a UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage. On these streets and squares you will find traces of human occupation and architecture of various eras - a history lesson for the whole family and many craftsmanship shops which you can discover with Porto Card. Visit the Palácio da Bolsa and marvel at the renewed Arab Hall, the palace crown jewel of the nineteenth century and a business symbol in Porto. Again, you will get a special price (50% discount) with your Porto Card!

Go to the Catedral, built during the 12th and 13th centuries, always with your Porto Card. Enjoy the view and recharge your batteries to go to the São Bento train station and be amazed at the tile panels, painted by Jorge Colaço, describing the evolution of transportation and telling a little of the History of Portugal.

Walk just a little bit more until Rua Santa Catarina, the busiest of the city, and pass by Café Majestic, considered by many as one of the finest cafés in the world. On the same street there are several restaurants where you can have a meal as a family and benefit from discounts with the Porto Card!

Day 2 - Going Downtown

Two things that you cannot fail to do: visit Livraria Lello & Irmão, one of the most beautiful in the world (the younger ones say the incredible staircase inspired JK Rowling, author of the saga "Harry Potter", who lived in Porto), and bring your efforts together to climb the 75 meters of Torre dos Clérigo. Present the Porto Card and get discounts of up to 50%!

At Miguel Bombarda road, you'll find the artistic heart of Porto. Browse the numerous art galleries and new stores that specialize in niche markets (Portuguese crafts reinvented by designers of popular culture figurines).

The largest green area in the center of Porto, Palácio de Cristal gardens, is nearby. The gardens were designed in the nineteenth century as romantic gardens with trees and plants from all over the world.

After a busy day, the family deserves a delicious dinner. The city's official dish is Francesinha. If you prefer, there are also several restaurants with traditional Portuguese food. Your family will be pleasantly surprised, for example, by the delicious cod dishes and with the Porto Card discount!

Day 3 - A different day: Art and Surf

Start the day at the museum of Parque de Serralves! At the museum (which you can visit at a discount of 50% with the Porto Card), designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira, you can visit exhibitions of contemporary art. The ticket to the museum is also valid for the park, with 18 acres of gardens which are a landscaped milestone in Portugal. Do not leave Serralves without first taking a picture next to the sculpture garden spade, more than seven meters tall.

Go down the Avenida da Boavista and head to the International Beach, the main beach in the city. Here you will find many surf schools that offer lessons for beginners in water sports. Present the Porto Card and get 15% off!

The Sea Life is just around the corner, with all its marine life: sharks, tropical fish, stars and sea urchins, among others, now with 35% discount with the Porto Card! Just a step away is Parque da Cidade, the main lung of Porto and one of the most sought after locations for running, walking or simply relaxing in the grass. Children can spend their energy looking for ducks, swans, geese and other species living in this 83 hectar area.

Bring your family to Porto and experience three days of discovery with the Porto Card, benefiting from free admission and discounts in over 170 points of interest! If you have the opportunity, continue your tour through the North of Portugal and get to know what the country has best to offer. Contact us so that we can help you to make this trip a reality!
